Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my system uses R22?
R22 should only be used in equipment that is specifically designed and labeled for R22 or HCFC-22. It is not suitable for systems that require a different refrigerant. Before ordering, check the equipment nameplate and manufacturer specifications. If you are unsure, send us a clear photo of the nameplate and consult a qualified HVAC technician.
Where is R22 typically used?
R22 is primarily found in older air-conditioning and refrigeration systems originally designed for HCFC-22. These applications are for general reference only. Always follow the refrigerant type specified on the equipment nameplate or in the manufacturer documentation.
How much R22 comes in each cylinder?
Each cylinder contains 30 lb (13.6 kg) of net R22 refrigerant. This weight refers to the refrigerant only and does not include the cylinder or outer packaging. We recommend checking the label, seal, and cylinder condition when your shipment arrives.
Can R22 be mixed with other refrigerants?
No. R22 should not be mixed with other refrigerants or used in equipment that is not approved for it. If a system is being converted or retrofitted, follow the equipment or retrofit manufacturer's requirements and have the work completed by a qualified HVAC professional.
Who should handle or service R22?
R22 recovery, charging, servicing, and repair should be performed by a qualified HVAC professional using appropriate equipment. Refrigerant must not be intentionally vented. Purchasing, handling, transportation, recovery, and installation requirements may vary by product and location, so make sure the applicable requirements are confirmed before use.
How much is R22 shipping and how long does delivery take?
Shipping is free for R22 orders within the contiguous 48 states and Washington, D.C. Orders are generally dispatched within 1 business day, with FedEx or UPS delivery typically taking about 2–4 business days after shipment. Actual delivery time may vary depending on destination, weather, and carrier conditions.
What if my R22 cylinder arrives damaged or leaking?
Do not use a cylinder that appears to be leaking, has a damaged valve, or otherwise looks unsafe. Keep it away from heat, flames, and occupied indoor areas, and do not attempt to repair it yourself. Contact our support team with your order number and clear photos of the cylinder, valve, packaging, shipping label, damage, and batch code so we can review the issue.
Are unopened R22 cylinders returnable?
Unused and unopened cylinders may be eligible for return if they remain in their original condition and packaging. Because refrigerants are regulated products, please contact us for approval before arranging a return. Special carrier requirements may apply, return shipping is the customer's responsibility, and eligible refunds are processed after the returned product has been inspected.
Is volume pricing available for R22?
Yes. Quantity pricing may be available depending on order size, destination, inventory, freight requirements, and applicable shipping restrictions. For a confirmed quote, provide the quantity needed, cylinder size, delivery ZIP code or country, company information, and preferred delivery date.
